However, once you pick the perfect policy, it’s important to keep in mind that your rates may change. Check out these common reasons why your auto insurance rates increase.

Quotes vs. Premiums.

In some instances, an insurance quote may increase when it comes to purchasing a policy. There are various reasons that may cause such an occurrence. The two most common reasons for a change in a quote occur when there’s been missing information or if the information provided at the time of the quote was inaccurate. Either case could be responsible for an increase in your rates.

Traffic Accidents & Violations.

When it comes to your auto insurance rates could be effected by your driving habits. If you’re often involved in traffic accidents of if you’ve received too many traffic tickets, your auto insurance rates will likely increase. More Expensive Vehicle.

New technology may help to make driving easier. However, it may increase your auto insurance rates. Fixing the latest technology when involved in an accident is more expensive than ever. Be prepared for an auto insurance rate increase with more expensive cars on the road.

Happy Independence Day! From backyard barbecues to patriotic fireworks, the Fourth of July is filled with summertime fun and celebration. However, it’s important to have fun safely. Check out these Fourth of July safety tips to ensure your celebration goes off without a hitch.

Barbecue Safety.

  • Use the grill outside and keep it away from anything flammable.
  • Keep a watchful eye on the grill. From curious kids to sudden bursts of flames, there’s a lot that could go wrong if not properly attended to. Never leave the barbecue while grilling.
  • Clean the grill regularly. Grease and fat drippings can build up on the grill and increase your risk for a fire.

Pool Safety.

  • Establish the rules of the pool. No running, no diving, no roughhousing, and no swimming alone.
  • Always keep watch around the pool and keep a flotation device nearby at all times.
  • Kids are curious, and drains are dangerous. Keep kids away from any drains or pipes to avoid any accidents.

Firework Safety.

  • Only use fireworks outside and with an adult present. Only ever light one firework at a time, and keep your distance.
  • After using fireworks, dispose of them properly. Wait for the firework to cool and then soak it in water before disposing of it in the trash.
  • Check to see if fireworks are legal where you live. Additionally, dry conditions can increase the risk of starting a fire. Check to see the fire danger in your area before using fireworks.
  • Be mindful of your pets. The loud noise can be scary for unsuspecting cats and dogs. Startled animals may run away from home. Keep your animals safe and secure to prevent any accidents.

Safety Behind the Wheel: Tips for Your Summer Drive

Stay safe on summer roads with these tips.

Whether it’s the daily work commute, the school run, or a summer road trip, driving in the hottest season has its challenges. As well as sun glare, you’ve got high temperatures to contend with, which can make your car behave differently. In addition, roads are busier, especially en route to airports and around tourist destinations. Before you head off, review these tips for your summer drive.

Plan your journey. If you have a road trip planned, map it out beforehand. You may not stick to it, but at least you’ll have a route mapped out if you get lost or want to avoid traffic.

Check your car’s fluids. During the summer, we all need water to stay active and prevent dehydration. Your car isn’t any different. Fluid levels help to keep your car running smoothly, so ensure that you top up the engine oil, windscreen washer fluid, engine coolant, and fuel.

Top up the tires. High temperatures and under-inflation exacerbate existing damage and weak spots, increasing the risk of punctures. Before setting off, check tire condition and pressures on a vehicle, as well as anything you may be towing.

Avoid the glare. You may love basking in the sun, but sunlight is not ideal when it bounces off your windscreen, making the road hard to see. Keep the glass clean, repair scratches and chips, and wear non-light-reactive sunglasses while behind the wheel.

Pack a kit. Whether it’s a long journey or not, you should always have an emergency kit in the trunk of your car. This should consist of a breakdown triangle, water, first-aid kit, map, flashlights, and other essentials.

Drive extra diligently. With schools about to break up for summer, it’s important to keep an eye on certain areas. Drive carefully through neighborhoods where kids may be playing in the middle of the day.

Now that you know how to make the most of your summer drive, be sure that you secure the right auto insurance for your needs. At Kosich Insurance, we’re dedicated to giving each driver the coverage they can count on. Contact us to get started.
